Mental Health Talk on Youtube

I have to admit that this is a somewhat last minute post.  The house buying process is taking up a lot more time that I imagined it would.  I didn’t want to skip a Wednesday post, so I decided to make a short and sweet youtube recommendation list.

My first recommendation is Katie Morton.  I have shared a few of her videos before.  Below is one of her videos, in which she discusses How to Communicate Your Mental Health Needs.  She has a lot of really great videos and her website also provides a safe place for her community of followers to provide support to one and other.

Another channel I recommend is PsychCentral.  This is a good channel for learning about mental illness related topics, as well as social and family conflict.  Below is a video on the PsychCentral Channel explaining what Bipolar Disorder is.

If you are interested in learning about what it is like to live with Schizophrenia, Rachel Star has a good channel for that. Warning: If you type Rachel Star into Youtube you will get some explicit videos in the search results, there seems to be a sex worker of the same name.

SciShow Psych is a good channel if you are interested in topics you would learn about in an undergraduate psychology class.  These are very educational videos, with a great host who is a well known Youtube star.

Anything I missed?  Please share the mental health videos you enjoy in the comments!

  1. If you like SciShow Psych, you should check out Crash Course: Psychology. Both are produced by the Vlogbrothers, John and Hank Green. Crash Course is structured more like a class, with learning modules, while SciShow covers more current topics and FAQ type questions.
